The Beaufort Olive Oil Heat Index

Not all "spicy" is created equal. At Beaufort Olive Oil Company, we offer a range of heat levels to suit every palate, from a gentle, aromatic glow to a bold, fiery finish. Use our Heat Index to find the perfect level of "zing" for your next dish.

❋ Level 1: The Gentle Glow

Perfect for: Those who want flavor depth with just a whisper of warmth.

Jalapeño White Balsamic Vinegar (The Honorable Mention) Don’t let the name intimidate you. This crisp, tangy balsamic has a gentle jalapeño flavor that slowly warms the back of the throat without being overly spicy. It’s the perfect "gateway" to spicy flavors.

Try it in: A splash of ceviche, homemade salsa, or a spicy margarita.

Chimichurri Olive Oil While primarily herbaceous with parsley and oregano, our Chimichurri blend has a very mild red chili kick that rounds out the savory profile.

Try it in: Marinades for flank steak or drizzled over roasted potatoes.

❋ Level 2: The Flavorful Sizzle

Perfect for: Foodies who love a noticeable spice that enhances, rather than hides, the food.

Jalapeño Olive Oil This oil captures the fresh, green essence of the pepper. It provides a savory, front-of-the-tongue heat that is bright and versatile.

Try it in: Cornbread batter, drizzled over popcorn, or to fry your morning eggs.

Chipotle Olive Oil Deep, smoky, and earthy. The heat here is a slow-burning "middle" spice that lingers pleasantly thanks to the smoked jalapeño peppers.

Try it in: Finishing a bowl of chili or as a base for grilled chicken tacos.

❋ Level 3: The Mediterranean Spark

Perfect for: Bold cooks looking for authentic, sharp heat.

Spicy Calabrian Pesto Olive Oil Inspired by the flavors of Southern Italy, this oil features the distinctively sharp and fruity heat of Calabrian chilies. It’s complex, salty, and packs a sophisticated punch.

Try it in: Pasta Aglio e Olio or as a dipping oil for crusty Italian bread.

❋ Level 4: The Fiery Finish

Perfect for: The true heat-seekers who want to break a sweat.

Baklouti Green Chile Fused Olive Oil Made by crushing fresh green Baklouti chilies with organic olives, this oil is rare and potent. It carries the intense, floral heat characteristic of Tunisian peppers.

Try it in: Adding a serious kick to hummus or spicy stir-fries.

Red Cayenne Chile Fused Olive Oil The king of our heat index. This oil is hot, clean, and unmistakable. Because the peppers are fused during the crushing process, the heat is integrated into every drop.

Try it in: Any dish where you want a significant spicy transformation—it’s excellent in buffalo wing sauces or spicy shrimp scampi.

Jalapeño Olive Oil
from $8.99

Our South Australian Jalapeno fused olive oil is both fruity and spicy. It’s made by combining fresh green, early harvest Frantoio olives with a large portion of FRESH Jalapeno peppers!

At harvest we used double the volume of peppers than we traditionally do to really maximize the flavor. These two fresh ingredients are simply crushed together and mixed in a malaxer which releases and combines the green essential oil of the fresh peppers with the olive oil. The resulting marriage boasts lingering spiciness, slightly bitter pleasing green vegetal notes and a vibrant zing from capsaicin.

Our Jalapeno fused olive oil adds a savory, tantalizing kick to salsas, marinades, soups, grilled foods, vegetables and more.

Spicy Calabrian Pesto Olive Oil
from $8.99

Take a sensory journey to sun-drenched Reggio Calabria, where spicy Calabrian chilies, sweet basil, pungent purple heirloom garlic, and sharp Pecorino cheese flourish in the rich Mediterranean soil. We’ve captured these iconic flavors of Southern Italy in our bold, savory Calabrian Pesto Infused Olive Oil.

Incredibly versatile, this oil shines in roasted vegetables, aioli, potatoes, eggs, pasta, salads, risotto, grilled meats, grain bowls—even drizzled over garlic bread or used as a bread dipper. It also makes a fantastic marinade for poultry.

Delicious paired with Sicilian Lemon White Balsamic, Oregano White Balsamic, Neapolitan Herb Dark Balsamic, Jalapeño White Balsamic, Red Wine Vinegar, and Traditional Balsamic.

Baklouti Green Chile Olive Oil
from $8.99

From the Barbary Coast of North Africa, this Tunisian Baklouti pepper is rare and unique to this region. This fused oil is the only example of this fruity and spicy green chili olive oil in the world.

Baklouti chili olive oil is made by combining fresh, early harvest organic olives with an almost equal ratio of fresh, whole green Baklouti chilies. The two, and only two, ingredients are then crushed together, mixed in the malaxer which fuses the fresh green essential oil of the pepper with the organic olive oil. Baklouti adds a savory, tantalizing kick to salsas, marinades, soups, grilled foods, vegetables and more.

Chimichurri Olive Oil
from $8.99

Our delightfully spicy and pungent Chimichurri Verde Olive Oil is made with a base of fused green chili olive oil flavored with a medley of spices and herbs including garlic, cilantro, parsley, oregano, black pepper, and red chili.

We recommend using it to sauté or grill veggies and marinate chicken, shrimp, beef, or pork. It works exceptionally well with beans and legumes, including drizzling over hummus. Try using it on popcorn or as a base for a spicy aioli. There are no wrong answers! It pairs well with Siclian Lemon White Balsamic, Oregano White Balsamic, Jalapeno White Balsamic and our new Garlic Chive White Balsamic for marinades, dressings and sauces.

Chipotle Olive Oil
from $7.99

The smoky flavor of this infused oil is great for marinating steaks and brushing on grilled chicken or seafood. An excellent dipping oil for artisan breads, finishing oil for soups, pasta or grain dishes, and a wonderful base for dressings and marinades.

Drizzle over vegetables or pizza for a spicy meal. Or, use to scramble eggs!

Try pairing with our Mango or Peach White Balsamic, and our Dark Chocolate or Espresso Balsamic for outstanding marinade possibilities!

Pro Tip: How to Tame the Flame

If you find you’ve climbed a little too high on the Heat Index, remember that acid and fat are your best friends. Pair a Level 4 oil with one of our sweeter white balsamics (like Peach or Pineapple) to balance the fire with a smooth, sweet finish!
